About Me

Hello! And welcome. I am glad you’re here. My name is Kaimi Mattila and I am Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor. I was born and raised in Iowa where I lived until 2015, when I moved to Texas.

I grew up in a small farming community called Huxley, with little diversity and not much to do. Venturing off after graduating college to find a new and different place to put down roots and feel a sense of belonging was always in the cards for me.

I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2015 with my Bachelor's in Psychology and Family Services and my Master of Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2019.

Since moving to Texas I have lived in a variety of places for work and school including San Antonio, San Marcos, Buda, Tyler, and now Austin where I call home.

I have been working in the social service field for 10 years serving in many different capacities - working with pregnant and parenting teens, adults with severe mental illness and substance use disorders for the local LMHA, housing those facing chronic homelessness, serving those who are incarcerated, and currently- managing a Mental Health Treatment Court for Hays County for justice involved individuals who live with severe mental illness. I have worked as a youth specialist, case manager, service coordinator, mental health clinician, and now a program administrator.

As cheesy at it sounds, social work was and is a calling for me. Advocacy and social justice have always been topics important to me even before I figured out that I wanted to be a social worker.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my 13 year old cat Rocky, my 7 year old dog Katana, kickboxing, dancing, photography, journaling, and indoor gardening. I also enjoy traveling to see family and friends whether it be on a flight or roadtrip.
